Review: Glass Sword

BOOK REVIEW: Glass Sword (Red Queen #2) by Victoria Aveyard

Despite picking up where we left off in Red Queen, I found that Glass Sword started off slow. The action really gets going in the second half and the ending was amazing.

The overall mood of the book seemed is darker than Red Queen and I absolutely loved that there was very little romance in this book.

I don’t know what it was but Mare just annoyed me the whole time. She seemed selfish and even childish at times. Cal was the saving grace and it’ll be interesting to see how his character will continue to develop throughout the series. If only the book alternated between Mare and Cal’s POV’s.

Another complaint I have is the sudden introduction of several new characters. A lot of them were introduced together and so there wasn’t really time to get to know who was who and what they brought with them.

Overall I really enjoyed it and I’m interested to see where Aveyard takes us next.
