BOOK REVIEW: Crown of Midnight (Throne of Glass #2) by Sarah J. Maas
Where do I even begin with this book? Being the second book in the Throne of Glass series, Crown of Midnight is where things really get going. It starts off a little slow but then things get Very Intense and it’s just action packed scenes then a plot reveal on repeat.
I honestly love Celaena’s character so much. She is a well written heroine and a much needed strong female character in our society. Despite being a hardcore, ruthless assassin, she has a strong love for books as well as material items like beautiful dresses which is often thought to be a “girlish” trait.
I didn’t find that the plot twists were forced in anyway—the reveals felt very natural. The plot twists were quite predictable so when they were revealed in the story there was no major gasping or head scratching.
I think the romance factor was well handled. While it played a bigger part this time, Maas didn’t let it play a central role and completely rule Celaena’s story, who was able to separate herself from her romantic relationships when necessary.
