Review: Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda

BOOK REVIEW: Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

Simon Spier is an easily likeable and relatable character, made more so through his imperfections and character development. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a romance novel but Albertalli gives equal focus to Simon’s platonic relationships as well as his relationship with Blue.

What I enjoyed most about this book were the emails between Simon and Blue as you get to see their relationship evolve despite not knowing the identity of the other.

Simon and Blue’s flirty conversations will leave you smiling to yourself as well as a giggle here and there. You’ll be guessing as to just who Blue is. After a few guesses you might just be right. And that’s another thing that makes this such a great book. Blue isn’t someone you wouldn’t ever see coming, there are the tiniest of hints throughout to suggest his identity.
